Close to the Edge s'est classé à la 3e place du Billboard 2002 et à la 4e place des charts britanniques, dès septembre 1972. Dans l'édition spéciale Pink Floyd & The Story of Prog Rock de Q et Mojo, l'album arrive 3e dans la liste des « 40 albums de rock cosmiques »4. L'album est souvent considéré comme étant un des meilleurs de la discographie du groupe et même du rock progressif dans son ensemble

Obscured by Clouds est le septième album du groupe de rock progressif britannique Pink Floyd, sorti le 3 juin 1972.


C'est la bande originale du film La Vallée de Barbet Schroeder.
L’album a été enregistré au Château d'Hérouville dans le Val-d'Oise en France lors d’une pause pendant la création de l'album The Dark Side of the Moon. Encouragé par le succès de la BO précédente, More, Pink Floyd s'est lancé dans l’écriture de la musique du film La Vallée. Après un différend avec la société de production du film, ils décident de sortir le disque sous un autre nom que celui du film, Obscured by Clouds.
